that was some really well done stuff i think a gimbal or some sort of stabiliser wouldve helped immensely with the panning shots of the piano and the long drawn out shot following the robbers leaving their car hwoever, it's a great piece of work. just a follow up question, how much actual background work is needed before you actually start doing the shots? like lighting and sound etc?

Depends on what type of angle and action you're trying to accomplish, along with the environmental conditions you're in. Usually between each shot however, you're going to invest quite some time adjusting light sources, camera focus and exposure, wardrobe, makeup, guiding actors and sound crew, etc. This is why planning ahead of time is so important, as moving everything and everyone can be a mess, and it's a lot more efficient when people know what they're doing. As a grip/gaffer for this film, my job was to work with the DP (aka Director of Photography aka Cinematographer) to help prepare the lighting and camera equipment exactly the way he and the director want it for each shot. The most challenging one was probably the handheld tracking shot at 1:30, where the DP had to use radios to tell me and two other guys inside the house to shut the door and turn on/off lights right before the actors approached the house so they would be visible while walking, followed by the actor inside re-opening the door and faking a hit to the face. Yeah. Lots of coordination lol The kid was the white couple's son lol. I think it's more of a commentary on power and corruption in a capitalist society - how one family's prosperity lives off the suffering (and in this case, literal bloodshed) of another, and the people in between that let it happen out of their own struggles and desperation.
