Theme: AllOutBattle Due: May31st (Extended to June 6th) Time: 30sec - No Max Maple Only Any Programs Started by Epicness182 Originally 9 people joined the mbr but sadly most members dropped out Jose117: part1: part2: MBR Profile: http://maplemation.com/threads/jose117-mbr-profile.33949/ Notes: well i fun make it this i hope i put more in my animation but the lazy reach me but still i have fun Trashbag: MBR Profile: http://maplemation.com/threads/trashbag.27205/ Notes: I coulda done more with the ending
I have to say, both of these work pretty well, and I enjoyed them, but they also have a good number of problems. I'm just going to list two of them each, since I'm no animation pro yet. seriously, I'm leaving the major cnc to those who know what to look for. Jose +/-The fighting looks good, even if everyone does stop moving unnaturally for a few seconds after they're done fighting. -your animation, though complete, isn't too fluid, and you forget physics on and off throughout it. Trashbag +/- It's good, but it's also short, and I feel like you avoided doing more with it or that you ran out of time on it. -nothing is really fully explained, and it looks like you just threw in some of the characters to make sure they weren't forgotten. Spoiler: my main irk in both The main problem I see in both animations is that some of the characters aren't properly represented. For instance, in jose's animation, he seems to have forgotten that dar sucks at mele combat meaning that when confronted with ike, he wouldn't try to punch the dude, he would try to get some distance. alex and the others never really use their powers, and on that note, if you had taken the time to actually learn about them, you would have known that ike has earth/rock and Water/Ice abilities, and as such wouldn't really be hindered by being frozen. It's not likely that trashbag wouldn't have been able to see and dodge your guardian character, since trashbag's main ability is pure speed, and epic would just keep coming back stronger then ever unless someone knocked him out. Trash bag, your's had fewer of these problems, but with how your animation play's out, you forgot a major detail about Lit. She can't aim for shit, aka she sucks at shooting things either with or without a gun, no matter what range she's at. At close range, sure it's more likely she will hit something, but still. And given sungod's powers, I'm pretty sure that it would take a bit more then that little light box to keep him from glitching. Either way, I think that some of the characters were misrepresented, and that kinda ruins parts of it in both. All that said, you did a good job for someone of your skill jose, but I have to say that trashbag gets my vote on this one.
As much as I am disappointed that 9 people dropped out of the free-for-all MBR. I must congratulate the two who finished. Despite my initial conditions of requiring 5 people finish their parts, I will tweak the rules for this occasion. I will therefore donate 1 MBR point to each of them; hopefully encouraging others to actually finish their animations in the future. Good job Trashbag, Jose.
Must say that this was a damn big dissapointment, only 2 people finished... seriously? Well first of all Darlit, you complain more about your character not being properly animated, which, really doesn't matter much unless this was a 1v1 or 2v2 MBR. I mean, can you blame them? It's hard to remember the powers and combat style of 8 characters. As for the CnC... Spoiler: Jose117: Your animation is not good, but i wouldn't say it's bad either. You're learning. But your understanding of physics is weird, your animation haves ''impact'' for sure, thats good and all, but in many instances when the characters are bashing each other, there is no feeling of any strenght put into their attacks at all. In your animation a super strong hit feels like they're just poking each other but for some reason they are sent flying far away. There are also the weird stops in their movement, which is weird. You could also improve your camera work, it feels very static. Try to make it more dynamic! You also depend too much on poses, to the point you don't even care about easing or physics. That aside, i congratulate you for making a nearly 2 minute animation! Spoiler: Trashbag Well, i don't think i'm at your level when it comes to animating yet. But i can say that the animation was very smooth! the characters looked lively with their expressions, reactions and movements! you even took your time to rig them all, very well done! The fight was very short, but enjoyable. However, the ending was dissapointing. What even happened at the end? It feels like you ran out of time/motivation and decided to end the animation there. Not to mention that you made us watch 8 seconds the background. People will probably disagree with me... But my vote goes to Jose! He made a long animation, despite it's many flaws, and in it's ending he used some sort of animu cliche power that seemingly destroyed everybody. Trashbag, however, left 3 (or more) people left alive, which made the animation feel incomplete.
ayylmao Jose: Just 2 things I think need to be said. Spoiler: A lot of spoilers and pictures Spoiler: Please Spoiler: double Spoiler: check Spoiler: how Spoiler: you Spoiler: position Spoiler: and Spoiler: move Spoiler: each Spoiler: and Spoiler: every Spoiler: thing Really, just attention to details, where everything is positioned, and to summarize this, Spoiler: Just avoid doing something like Symbols and breaking apart sprites are you best friend. The second being that I have a sense of Deja Vu from your MBR demo and your first animation ever. People punching and kicking, swinging swords, and incredibly long pauses. Aim to have a flow or momentum of sorts in your animations next time, in addition, to actually giving some sort of powers to people. I only really saw yours, Ikes, and Alex's characters having powers of sorts. Trashbag: It looked smooth and neat to look at, alignment seems off imo, not much else to say, to be honest. This sums up my thoughts pretty well about it. Same deal with Darlit about characters and their powers of sorts, except I'm not that nitpicky about who can and can't aim and who can and can't do what. If I had to vote legitimately, I'd vote Trashbag for looking more decent. But I can vote both, so why the heck not :^)
i know i must keep practique to not do thoses thing thanks for the tip i gonnad doble check when i make animations and for thoses long pauses in my previews animation i just try sync with the song sooo i guess is that
yea... I guess I got a bit too nitpicky. I apologize to both animators for that. I don't really think that it's that big of a deal and tbh it's kinda funny. But that aside I did enjoy both animations. Jose's showed that he really tried his best, and trashbag's is awesome, especially with how he got most of their personalities down. And i agree with the cnc you gave them since it's what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words for.
Not gonna delve into too much but Jose, you're almost there! Try to eliminate those really long pauses you have after every action in the animation and keep the characters aligned on the ground and not floating randomly throughout the animation. Keep practicing! T-bag you had some good shit as usual but really wished someone would of done something more interesting than just throw characters onto a map and start a fight out of no where.
