Hello! We recently set up a Sarahah account for MapleMation. Now you can send us anonymous feedback at any time! We have no way of knowing who you are unless you tell us in your message. Hopefully this allows for more feedback, which we're always happy to hear. As staff, we'll try to check for new messages regularly. This exists so that you can anonymously send us suggestions and feedback; things you like, dislike, or think should change about the forums and Discord server. This is not for sending us reports about specific users, as replies will be public, which is unfair to any user reported this way. This also isn't a toy for you to send us shitty meme suggestions, jokes, or flame the staff. If the Sarahah is abused for such purposes, it may be shut down, either temporarily or permanently. Inquiry: Take into consideration that some of the staff could potentially be members of teams (IE Neil and Warren for Animation Team since they've been giving the most cnc so far). Response: It's definitely an option for staff members to become team members or leaders! Dally is both the map team leader and a moderator. Tooler is both the YouTube director and a moderator. The staff are aware of that and are welcome to apply to teams at any time. Inquiry: Mostly curiosity and confirmation that I'm not going crazy, but didn't MM use to have a section for writings and character story's/backgrounds? It's a popularity contest that wouldn't do us any good. It would only result in jealousy. Inquiry: I feel like there needs to be a section specifically catered towards beginners~ I know cnc helps a lot, but it feels almost like all the new animators are diving into animations left and right without regarding the basics. There's also tutorials like spritefan2's and a few others, but it would be more consistent imo for all the basics and tutorials, etc. to be in its own section. Heck there could even be threads that revolve around exercises where each has a specific aspect of animating to it (ie: exercise on how to do jumps/arc, exercise on how to do skew,sword swings and punches, etc.) each progressively becoming more advanced. if ya want more details, u know where to find me -Merron Pan Response: Good points. A lot of this is actually covered in the stickied posts in the tutorials section. If beginners were to read those thoroughly, they'd probably get a lot from it. We can direct beginners to them more often, for sure. Hopefully that'll help. If you'd like, you're more than welcome to make exercises/tasks like that in a thread in the tutorials section. I think a lot of the staff would be happy to discuss that with you further and help out.
Inquiry: Question: How did Karasu come to lead the forum? Response: He worked up from Membah to Sprite Team to Moderator to MM Discord Owner to Forum Owner. If you'd like to know more about him, his staff description is a good place to start. Inquiry: Try to hire some more (active) admins to have the community be more lively (and so Karasu won't be all alone). Response: Karasu and at least one other feel that there's currently no need for any additional admins. Additional admins are for discussing matters of high importance with, which are then relayed to the moderators later on. As things currently stand, matters of high importance are discussed amongst all of the staff equally.
Inquiry: what is one section in the forum that you guys wish to revive / bring back? Kim's response: I personally would like to see many aspects of the forum be revived. We used to have livestreams listed on the site. There's old threads that are okay to necropost in but remain dead, such as the pinned off-topic threads, the "draw the person above you" thread, etc.. There are also a bunch of old threads that I simply wish people would read more. Stickied threads, mostly. At the time, no other staff members have commented on this, but perhaps some may reply to this thread if they have anything to add. The above is my personal opinion.
Inquiry: What exactly do you guys count as leeching from the community? Response: Joining for the resources without giving anything back. Inquiry: We should have a Music Team in case people decide to make and compose music as a Team and make original music for Collabs, Games, Projects, Animated Videos, etc. We should make this royalty/copyright free and license the music under Creative commons however so people don't have to worry about copyright issues in case it gets uploaded to YouTube, Twitch, Vimeo or other video hosting sites. Response: The staff feel that there currently aren't enough music makers on the forum to warrant this.
Inquiry: What's considered giving back to the community in the staff's terms? Sorry for the question spam, I don't want to leech since this community seems so nice. Response: Producing content, giving CnC, actually using the CnC that people give you. For some people, simply watching you improve is enough. Giving CnC helps a lot, too. Even just being an active member of the community is great!
Inquiry: I would love to see a maplemation app someday : ) Response: We don't currently have any plans for this, but our mobile site is pretty easy to use and navigate. If you've got an API guy to refer us to, maybe it could be discussed further.
