    Pretty Neat!
One thing that i gotta point out is you should practice more with weapons.
and the combo in 0:51 is nice looking, Keep up the good work!

Hello! Glad to see we have a new member in our midst. As somewhat of a veteran, I'd like to give you a few pointers to help you improve.

So the alignment in this animation was off a bit. At certain instances, your character jutted around when they weren't supposed to. Here is an example. https://gyazo.com/c701c9aa25117cd092ecfe75b7a5aafe
It also happens when you're standing at the beginning. Your feet should always be positioned in the same spot unless you're moving.
What I think you should do is draw a red alignment line on the stage in one layer. All you gotta do is place your character on that line and make sure they stay on the line at all times (unless you're jumping or something). Also use the onion skin tool which looks like this https://gyazo.com/021373fe2c3d5f7f8479d24790391db9 to better align your characters. ~

When you jump and land there is always needs to be resizing. Before you jump you have to build it up. You do this by squashing your characters pose down, just before the jump. Squash your character down and then back to normal when he lands. Also, don't forget to tween your character sliding over. If you're still confused, think about a real life scenario. Try jumping, and paying close attention to what your body does before and after you jump and try applying it to your animation. There is also resizing for punches along with sliding poses. Impact=Resize is all I'll say.

When it comes to starting off in animations, pretty effects should be your LAST concern. You need to get a grip on the basics first and that means animating JUST character poses. Also when you upload a video to this forum in an attempt to get CNC (which I presume this is because otherwise this post would've been you just showing off) you need to have a critical eye on your own animation. Look at what other people do and you'll easily see flaws in what you're doing. When you see these flaws, make sure to point them out when you make your thread and to ask for help for those specific things. Because for SOME REASON no one ever wants to point out obvious things.

Kiba, in response to your CNC, you need to not give vague statements. "You need to work on your weapons" is not valuable information that could help him/her, because he/she could easily acknowledge the fact that the weapon usage looks off but still not know how to fix it. If you're going to call something out provide a solution or a tutorial or literally anything. Thanks, fam <3

You got potential kiddo, keep going!

Serious question. Why do we bother posting animations on threads if everyone is on discord? Like seriously, this is an animation forum. I'd expect people to ya know, actually fucking post shit on the forum and not in a random client chat. Yet we still continue to ponder and theorize why the fuck forum activity is down. Not an attack on you or anything Kevin, this is an attack on the system itself. Holy hell what the fuck is the point of a forum with no posts? I think its best if we encouraged people to get on the forum instead of leaving it. We have this thing where as soon as you get on the page, it tells you to go to the discord chat because thats where everyone is.

Also newbie, do not try to cover up with effects. It doesn't help anyone and makes your animation look kind of wonky. (Also pretty much no one uses those effects anymore) Stay away from weapons for now please <3

I think the Discord was brought up not as a place to officially showcase animations, but mostly for (close to) instant CnC (maybe a quick reminder 'hey this is here, check it out!' after posting it on the forums or YouTube). Discord is a replacement for the chatbox, not the entire forum itself. Posting animations and such on the forums grants others more time and space to provide valuable input or comments that can be viewed by all in posts and not lost in a chatbox setting.

OT: It's really impressive that this is your second animation using After Effects. xD Everyone pretty much pointed out the main places to improve -- alignment, effects, and camera movements. I think another thing is that you could make all of the movements faster/smoother, like the weapon swinging and people being hit/thrown away. It almost feels like they're being held back. At the end of a swing or slide, don't be shy to add two or four more frames of extra movement to make it smoother.

@jose117 Yes, you can post animations to the Discord server -- there's a channel called "cnc" for comments and criticism. Imo, it's really good if you want instant CnC before publicizing an animation and waiting to get input all at once that could've been given ahead of time. Keep it mind that not everyone is on at the same time and you may not be given CnC right away!

I think one of the hardest parts of going from Flash to After Effects is the camera. Look and learn how ease graphing works, and just how keyframing works in general in AE.

    G'day,

While Immediate CNC is perfectly great and all I don't really think that is necessarily the reality of the discord chat. Sometimes I see things that aren't responded to like the video above while others are. I think It'd be more convenient to post animations on threads because it'd be more organized. I mean I don't think many people are going to scroll up through comments ranging from CNC to Misc that often to respond to animations that have been posted a while before they got on.

I kind of miss the huge chatbox on the homepage. It did the same exact job that discord did and more importantly it required people to be logged on to the site itself, making it more likely that the threads that DO get posted up here might get seen. That's just my view on it though.

    Have a good one! <3
