    TIME LIMIT: 30+ seconds
DUE DATE: May 17th (extended twice to today)

Sadly, my opponent was unable to complete his animation, after the 2 provided extensions. He plans to finish up soon, but for now, I'll be posting this here, in hopes of still being able to claim an MBR point.

I'm most likely going with "no". Can't really decide yet since there are a few things I don't like about the animation itself.

    I have no words.

    - 0:14-0:18 (Not making a gif, filesize would be too large.)
So...the sword combat is actually a little hard to understand considering you only have one angle for your sword. Having that side view of a sword really helps so I recommend you get somebody to do that soon.

This just seems kinda lazy, there are better ways to come out of that swing other than just rotating cw.

The first time I watched it, it seemed as if Jett just appeared and I had to actually slow it down in order to see the extremely blurry pose he was in for maybe 5 frames before he landed.

When he (I'm assuming here) put enough force on your sword to slam it into the ground, there was no anticipation at all it just kinda happens. Not only that but wouldn't Jett put so much force on the sword that he would land on the ground first and then jump up? Speaking of the jump, why does he come down so fast and land the wrong way? If there was some kind of in-between I missed, it's way too fast to actually see him turn around to land the way he did.

I don't know if it's the pose or just the way it's animated, but this doesn't really look like it would hurt all that much. That hook looks like it has no power behind it even though it knocked you back pretty far.

Why is the swing effect behind him...?

Also, this has to stop. I'm serious.

My main concern here was the map. Please note that this is purely an opinion. The thrid shot was the most suitable for the whole area. Because it actually showed a desert road. The rest of thje map (2d view) is a clusterfuck of things that don't fit. You put wooden fences on both sides, that don't really match up with the theme. If you wanted to make it a ranch or something, it needs to be more clear. The forest is like - oh my god. Worst one you ever did i swear. Ignoring the fact that it shouldn't be there, because it lacks any depth or conection to the desert itself. It has one layer, you didn't even bother to adding more for parallax.

Incase the map is out of the way.
I'd sum it up like most of the moves are as neil said " no anticipation at all it just kinda happens ". I don't wanna be that much of a copy, but that's the vibe i get.
Gettign some nipticks in my acse.
0:13 - You should really use an effect instead. It looks like paper cuts.
0:27 - I fee like you wanted to put an effect there but forgot . With that that pause is akward and makes no sens.
0:28 - Why is he down when he flied up?
0:30 - what the shit is that spin. It's just so out of place.
0:33 - "no anticipation at all it just kinda happens" - Neil . Jumps like 200 feet or some shit, casual stuff.
0:36 - Okay, bear with me for a second. The power you've showed with the hover board was sonic level shit. Yet he cut a rock then hit him with 3 missles. I honestly can't imagine that shit flowing that far.
0:37 - Why were there shards of rock, evne though U CUT it. You even showeed that it's a "perfect", clean cut.
0:42-4 - Those effect look cut in the floor, looks... yeah.
0:49 - Not sure if it'll go liek a Joey copycat or something. But you could change the direction of the speedlines since he's dropping like a rock.
0:49 (2) - Again, why the f*Ck is he dropping like a rock. You put no effect there showing thtat he dashed, used powers or some other shit.

That's all for me, I'm sure that people will find other nipticks.

Apologies if this sounded offensive/harsh in any way.

"Sadly, my opponent was unable to complete his animation, after the 2 provided extensions. He plans to finish up soon, but for now, I'll be posting this here, in hopes of still being able to claim an MBR point." - Okay.... so you gave him 2 exentensions then said "no" even though he's close to ending? Or something else? Could you clear it a bit up?

PS. You could atlesat make jet get ran over by a car. It'd be way more satisfying :^(

I'll try and clear it up @NobleJuice, basically I was too over ambitious with mine, and by that I mean I kinda made it too long to finish in time,
I would have just uploaded what I had made and have it unfinished, but alot of the camera and sound effects still weren't done yet and I didn't really wanna upload it like that. I was gonna try and rush it all together on the due date but sadly due to life I was gone for most of the day so I couldn't.

ANYWAY i'm voting yes Drew cuz your animation was fucking lit GJ

Though there's room for improvement, I'm voting yes, because you finished, the overall animation was pretty coherent (as in it was straight-forward, easy to follow, and there was nothing random for the sake of being random/trying to be funny), the camera movement was nice and focused well on the action, I thoroughly enjoyed the small details you added (Your character's slight rigging in the second shot, the pocket for Jett to put his hand in for the split screen shot, Jett's cape constantly flowing, the multiple vignettes, the lighting/shadow), and I thought some of the ideas you used were pretty neat and well-executed (like the part when Jett walks forward/the split screen/his legs' rigging and how Jett splits the rock in half!)! My favourite part is the third shot: I already mentioned your character's rigging and how Jett enters the scene then flies off, but also the depth you implement -- I notice you do that with some of your videos and it's one of the many things I appreciate! ^o^ It's not something I see well-executed often in Maple animations.

I actually liked that you added that. It's like the hoverboard (I'm just calling that thing a 'hoverboard' for now LOL) had to situate itself when Jett landing on top of it, 'cause Jett landed on it from a height and he probably weighs similarly to, if not more than, the hoverboard. Here's the link of what I mean (like, how the hoverboard goes kinda down when Marty lands on it, 'cause he's heavier than it, and then it bounces back up to dash away). Though I can see how it can be seen awkward -- I think this could've emphasized this more if Jett and the hoverboard went down a little more when he landed on it and/or it happened quicker.
I don't know if that's what you were really going for, but that was my take on it.

In regards to the previously mentioned CnC about sword combat and un-anticipated actions, I think it might help if you add slight (even like 1-3 frames) arm/body/sword movements before and after the action/swing/etc. I think it'll give a better sense of direction for movement, because your character movements are mostly static, with only one pose per action/sword swing. This is sort of what I mean: No slight limb movement vs slight limb movement [this is a work in progress]
Another thing you could do (in addition to 'resizing'/'skewing'/rotating/whatever-you-call-squishing-sprites-vertically/horizontally-idk), instead of slight limb/arm/body movement, is just add another pose that acts as a transition to the action/swing/etc. Kinda like how default jumping stab pose has that stabTF_1 as a transition between stabTF_0 and stabTF_2.
And I think it's also important to have enough time for the audience to see the transition, so it doesn't seem as random.

    NOW, TO MY CNC:
This should've been pink, so it would've been easier to see. >:c
    [IMG]
LMAO fine, not necessarily pink, but you know what I mean =w=

I think you could've made a better front head edit (no offense to Jett, LOL) on your own.

Overall, good job, Droo! :DD I find myself watching this over and over~ ^-^ It's a shame Jett couldn't finish in time. :c I can't wait to see yours too, Jett! :raised_hands: :not_discord:
Looking forward to your future MBR animations, dood -- or should I say... "Droo-d?" c:

Did you see what I did there? (☞゚ヮ゚)☞
