This is a long read. My apologies if it seems like I'm bragging, I really don't mean to.
    ----------
A lot of this is going to be hard to believe considering not many people actually witness it in closer quarters.

I'm sure many of us are into PC gaming and some beyond that dabble in building PC's know of a website called Newegg. It's pretty much an online store that focuses a lot on PC parts and other electronics. In mid-July they did a huge giveaway that involved people winning these prize packages throughout the weeks with the last one being the largest having $10,000 in store credit on top of their prize package.

(Newegg's store credit is "EggPoints" and 1,000,000 is awarded to the winner. 100 EggPoints = $1 USD)

I personally browse and purchase items from their website fairly frequently, so I thought "why the fuck not?" right?

As most companies, their platform for doing the giveaway was on Gleam. So I put in my info, followed them on all social media, and my entries were in. Great!

The time allowed for entries lasted for over a month. So as you can imagine, I had already long forgotten about the whole ordeal.
    ----------
I never had any hopes or expectations of winning. Weeks had passed and a person was announced a winner of a weekly prize package.

On August 29 9:22PM, I receive an email labeled "Newegg's 1 Million EggPoints Grand Prize Winner Notification".

"No fucking way. This has to be bullshit. This is totally a scam."

They had even provided proof. (Facebook, Twitter, and on Newegg (scroll to bottom)) In addition to also attaching an affidavit and a W9 tax form. This was the real thing.

I freaked out, in the best way.

At the time, I was a month away from graduation at my school and I was in good standing to pass. My job was going well. Now I had this. People--including myself of course--always run into streaks of bad luck or misfortune, but this was very much the opposite. I had no idea what to think of it. It was very surreal.
    ----------
The EggPoints were what came in first since they were in the middle of getting all of the physical items together for the prize packages.

$10,000 may not sound like a lot of money in longer terms, but it's a lot for just electronics. Think of stuff that you can get based on that category of items alone and Newegg sells A LOT MORE than just electronics. Good tech is not cheap.

From that email, I was instructed to compose a wishlist prior to getting these EggPoints and for good reason. Mostly because this currency expires 90 days after its issued.

I put a lot of thought into what I wanted. Of course, I didn't intend to spend it all on myself. I got gifts for family and friends and invested a good chunk of it into myself. No specifics.

Surprisingly, they sell airline vouchers so I booked myself a flight in December to spend Christmas with my girlfriend's family (they had been egging me to join them).
    ---------
I don't really think much about it now. I still have some EggPoints leftover so it's possible that I might do a small giveaway of some sorts. Maybe on here? Who knows.

They recently posted that the prize packages are going out. Most of which I don't really need or want. Perhaps we can organize something on Maplemation, it be great to have even more activity!

    Life is crazy, dude.

Guess seeing that email swept you away! Man, it must be really crazy winning that, I'm glad you won! Very nice of you to buy gifts for friends and family because with a million eggpoints, I know eggactly what I want!
Besides the puns: that's really neat to see that you won that, $10,000 if a lot and including other prizes it's amazing!
