I'm just curious. Are there any rules for making an official series with MapleStory character animation? Because my idea for Kurol Grows Up is being bashed down by someone, even though it's NOT a collab.

Hey man, I don't think you understand. What you read from Frosty's reply to your previous post wasn't to "bash it down", but to advise you re-assess what you're doing before instantly jumping into a major project like a series. And not only was he right, mind you, but the Projects section is not made for posts that just PITCH ideas (Idea Collector Thread aside). It's for recruiting others to collaborate with a project you have in mind. You making that post in the first place only PROVES you didn't bother to read the link Shulkle sent you the other day http://maplemation.com/threads/read-before-posting-dereks-2cents.15555/ . Once again, people are trying to HELP you prosper in your goals and animation ideas, but for the past few days. what you've been doing and saying is not only making it hard to people to WANT to help you...
...but you're also making it obvious you, yourself, don't want to listen to people.

Understand something, Ben. nobody said to you that you're a "bad host". Again, you're misinterpreting Frosty and Tracey's replies to your ideas as them trying to attack you, and you think of it as such, because it's something you're too proud of to listen to critique. And following critique is what Maplemation is all about.
Your problem is, you're taking what they're saying too personally.
    When in reality...

Take a look at the pro animators you see today. Do you think they got to where they are now by blocking out people's opinions? No. They make mistakes like the rest of us. If you wish to succeed in what you're doing, you can't just brush aside people's attempts to help you, in that manner. Otherwise you won't get anywhere. I hope you take my advice to heart, and think about what you're doing.

Just because Maple animation is about fun, that doesn't mean it's about not giving a shit.

P.S. Frosty was actually being super nice in what he said, and you're taking a jab at him in this thread...... Really?...

To answer your question, Ben, no there are no official rules to making a MapleStory series. Heck, since you have GIMP, you could make a comic series instead! We have a comics section in the forums for that! MS series (with a coherent story) are always nice to see~

To address the issue regarding the projects you start up, no one is bashing you down or rejecting your ideas. Yes, Frosty and I commented on your projects and essentially suggested you go back to the drawing board/think about what you're doing, but in no way did we put you down. Perhaps you felt put down, and that's normal when you put out an idea you worked on and no one accepts it right away.
One time in the MM Discord server, I was like "Hey, I have a collab idea!" and gave some specifics; shortly after, I had hordes of people be like "How would that work?" and no one really sounded interested in joining. It really discouraged me at first, buuuuut that's what happens when your idea isn't recognized! It doesn't mean you should quit, and it definitely doesn't meant you should take it out on anyone. The passive aggressiveness you display in response to people giving you suggestions in your recent posts not only hurts to see, but most importantly will possibly further deter people from helping you/supporting you.

My main advice from you is to just animate what you want (also, like, avoid indirectly asking for permission and rules, which looks like borderline spam on the forums), take the animation critique that people (Shulk & ownblade, I read both of these, by the way, and it's thorough and good advice) give you, and read the forum topic rules before posting ('cause some people are kinda anal about posting threads in the wrong place). Yes, there is no specific way/rules to create animations, but there are principals of animation you should follow to produce realistic/coherent content! And when you need animation advice or have technical questions, that's what Maplemation is here for; Including everything Drew said in his post above, we're here to help each other out. People here don't mean to discourage in any way and there's a private messaging system for you to privately and individually settle a dispute.

The reason I commented on your Guardian collab thread is because I genuinely liked the concept of the idea and actually wanted to see it through (you don't have to go through with it if you don't want to anymore, but that's how I felt). My word isn't, like, a godsend, but it was just my 2 cents based on what I saw on your thread. I'm sure you got some good ideas, so don't get discouraged/defensive too much when someone offers you advice/says otherwise. If you wanna make a series, go for it -- make something, learn from it, and apply what you've learned to your next animation. Your first episode may look wonky and incoherent (kind of like this first episode), but with the right determination, willingness to fail-and-learn, and an open mind, you will vastly improve (kind of like this second season trailer)!! Sometimes, you gotta run before you can walk.
    You got this, dude!

A bit late seeing this, but I felt that there are some more things that need to be said since you're new to the forums.

It's fantastic that you're coming up with ideas and wanting to bring them to life. No one here can nor have they faulted you for that because isn't that one of the missions of an animation forum like MapleMation.
HOWEVER, think of what you're trying to do like any other task you want to accomplish in life.
Before you can bring your ideas to life, you need tools to help you do so.
In your case of wanting to create an animated series, those "tools" would be:
    >experience with animation
    >a story with several revisions (with or without a storyboard, but preferably with)
    >the willingness to make use of all that you have so that you can accomplish your goal

You have one of the three and that's where we, as a community/forum, come in to help you acquire the other two.
We give constructive feedback to one another so that people can grow from their mistakes or learn new methods of doing tasks.

And if I'm being blunt, you're being too pushy with what you want out of people and that's why your community projects have been frozen for the time being. Nobody has really seen any animation work from you and your character (though it was revised) is still undeveloped - yet you're asking other people to animate your character.

My advice to you would be to get yourself started with some animations so that we can discuss (not "bash") with you about your progress. Even if it's something that isn't as great as spritefan's or Aquila's work, many awesome people are here and there, waiting to help you reach the level you want to reach.

tl;dr let your actions speak for you - get some animations made (good or bad, doesn't matter because we all start somewhere) - be open to comments
