Hello! I'm Seika0 although I prefer to be called Seika ^^" (the name Seika was already taken from someone q-q...)

ahh...a little about myself......ahaha....*laughs at my self as i'm looking at this gray rectangle for about 1 hour wondering how the hell do i introduce myself as myself....ahahah......*

-cough-...hmmmm...guess i'll start with my age...? I'm 19, i stumbled upon some maplestory animation during my cegep studies (college equivalent) and i thought: "oooh those are fun to look at!" and basically kept watching em whenever i had a break here and there. Another thing maplestory animation reminded me of was Elsword, which i had played for 5yrs during my highschool (basically my whole highschool ahahaha....what a waste of time...).

my main interests became small cutscenes of anime here n there (got a stack of anime i may or may not watch if i ever have the time...which might be never lol), watching videos from Skallagrim, Metatron, Shadiversity, LEMMiNO and SovietWomble from time to time and playing video games (which are all mmorpgs...nope, never played maplestory for some reason rip)

I guess my reason for coming here is due to me becoming bored of mmorpgs for a while and wanting a change of pace so i thought to myself "why not try out animating those maple thingies!" (yes, i actually told myself "thingies" in my head rofl). I've never drawn a single thing in my life except graphs for math classes to the point i could believe that drawing a stickman could be difficult and i got exactly 0 to the utmost absolute zero knowledge in animation or anything related to it.

But hey! On the positive side! I'm ready to learn for as long as my interest can hold me out and most importantly making friends on this very very weird journey that im taking ahaha....

    aaaaaannnddd done!

jebus...i just stared at the screen for about 1 hour, told myself "fk it, this isn't a bloody research paper" yet ended up writing an essay...please don't actually read all of this ahaha xDD....

Welcome to MapleMation, Seika! Glad you gain some interest in the community! For starters, what kind of animations would you like to do? (You're more than welcome to talk to me in pm for more details) Depending on what you choose, kind of depends on which program to use too! (I recommend flash for the basic animations, but you're free to look at other options too lololol) But in the meantime of deciding, feel free to chill with us on the discord and chat~ If you got any questions, you can ask me or the other staff and regular members! Hope you have a nice time here~

hi! thank you for the welcome which was quite fast O.o...

as for your question, uuuuhhhh.....i guess fighting animations? xD....unless thats the hardest thing one could do as a total beginner lol....

i'm currently using flash CS3 professional as it's the same program and same version as the one SpriteFan2 uses in his tutorials ^^"

also, how do u pm people? XD....

Welcome to mm! In general if you're gonna animate it's helpful, though not necessary as a beginner, to try to get a
general idea of how physics work. I'm not say learn the math, but try to understand the concept somewhat more.
    12 Principles of Animation
I suggest giving this a look over when you feel like it, since it can be helpful. Just remember that these
things aren't written in stone and you can
    just try to have fun.

    Hope to see ya around.

Ayo chill, you seem awfully tense with that introduction. Relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax. Even if you are awkward, calming down and talking to us won't hurt. We don't bite. Most of us anyways. Welcome to Maplemation! Hope to see some of your animation thingies!

Hey, welcome! Nice introduction. I'll encourage you to join the MapleMation Discord server.
    Do you have a MyAnimeList?

Fight animations seem pretty damn difficult if you ask me. I tried making one and it was a pretty poor experience, nor do I have much to show for it. You have to be able to choreograph the fight, plus pick the right sprites, sound effects, and visual effects. An understanding of physics would probably also help.
Personally, I mostly make MMVs and the like. MMVs have their own challenges, and again an understanding of physics will help you out, but I find them more free and fun than fight scenes. Plus, animating along to a song you love is fun.
Have you mostly watched fight animations, or have you watched some MMVs, shorts, etc. as well?

Additionally, do you have any idea what program you'd like to use to animate? The kind of videos you'd like to produce can affect which program would be best for you. Most fight scenes are done in Adobe Flash or After Effects, while people who make MMVs tend to use Sony Vegas or Adobe After Effects (programs that allow you to add more effects)
You can find a nice, comprehensive list of animation programs here c: I'll also strongly recommend taking a look at this guide to CnC.

Again, welcome, and feel free to ask me if you have any questions!

    Welcome to the forum Seika.
So ya the software you use will determine how you are going to animate.
I suggest using flash first to understand the basic concepts of animation before going on to other softwares.
Every software has its good and bad, like
Flash - Is used to animate things frame by frame
Sony Vegas - Uses a timeline for the frames instead
Both softwares also have effects included so just play around with them and you'll know how to use them.
Check Alan Becker's tutorials for Flash animation, sad to say I don't know any for the latter.

Just open flash and have fun, you'll learn the ropes eventually.

thanks Shulkle, SuperKimxD, lieow123, bakari for the welcome!
And i'll try to relax myself a lil more, it's a little hard on me to open up xD..... _ _llll.....

As for your questions, i'm currently using flash cs3 since its the same program as in Spritefan2's tutorial that im following ^^"
seems like an understanding of physics is required worldwide if u want to enter animation so i'll try my best!

um...idk how hard sprite fights are, or just fighting animation in general but i do wanna give it a try nonetheless as i like swords n stuff...lol...might be cause i played too many mmorpgs that focuses on fighting along with action anime and so on, it's just really interesting to see the awesome sort of ways that one can use a weapon (which could definitely not apply irl ofc).
fighting's also been the main reason i checked out Skallagrim, Shaduniversity and metatron before entering all of their contents so yeah...i guess im really into fighting in general xD...

thank you for the CnC formats along with what it meant (was wondering what it was along with MBR thing), the list of animation programs and the other genres that exists! OH! and for how to pm things to other people xD...
