Mob Battle - Have your character be a god of war and take out hordes of fodder. MBRQ 1 [Onyx Edition] : Spoiler: Video Notes: A personal expression I always wanted to create. [really wanted to see what I can do using flash 8.. nothing else really..] (Story wise - I don't expect anyone to relate 'it's complicated') Question: Did I achieve Maple Rush animating skills? edit: forgot about the poll thing
I already gave you most of my feedback in the DM, so I'll just keep it short here. There are some really interesting visuals here. It gives this ethereal atmosphere to the animation. Also, the use of masking is really cool. I liked the 0:35 a lot. There are of course some fundamental issues, but you told me this is intentional and that I'll be able to understand in some future projects, so I'll hold my tongue for now. Unfortunately, I will have to vote no since only a small fraction of the battle was actually animated while the remaining was just storyboard. This gives me the impression that the animation is unfinished, and one of the prerequisites of MBRQ is to have at least 2/3 of the animation has to be the actual mob battle. You have some really interesting ideas from what I can gather, but your intent wasn't really clear to me and I can only judge it based on what I saw and not on what happens behind the curtains. It would be a bit disingenuous of me to vote yes just on what I did like. Don't let this discourage you to keep expressing yourself though. I'm sure with given time you'll be able to make those ideas come to life.
I can't say that I or any of the members of the animation team feel right giving a "pass" to this. There are a lot of really unfinished parts and the parts that were somewhat finished left me scratching my head. I'm really not sure what to make of this.
