An emerging EDM Artist, constantly pursuing his dreams and pushing his upper limits. Hybrid elements of Progressive, House, Chiptune, Hands-Up, Dance, Club Dance and J-Pop are frequent. I'm still a Vocaloid Producer. See you next release!

TLDR: Sorry for the premature hype, I ended up not taking the deal and it is now void. After clarifying some details, it actually was in my best interest NOT to follow-through.

    NO DEAL > UNWANTED DEAL.

    Explanation
So, I talked about the deal with a specific member of the A&R Team that I'm obviously not going to mention by name. That person offered me the contract on behalf of the record label. I've had some second thoughts about finalizing the deal, so I asked some questions to clarify what I was getting into before it was active and therefore too late to back out. To get suspense out of the way, the deal is officially void and I will not be signed by that label (for good reasons). The biggest bummer is the fact I hyped everything up too early with the crossposting... Obviously I myself was pretty hyped, and I didn't want to hold out on the people who were fueling me all along. Lesson learned: premature hype is bad.

Anyway, I wasn't nearly as keen to sell myself to them after the questions I asked and the answers I got back. I understand what a Pay-to-Play industry is and what it entails, but if you want something bad enough you negotiate, right? Well, negotiation was very limited-- too limited. It became clear rewriting the contract was off the table. With that, I let that person know I was no longer interested and he hurried off the phone. That deal is not coming back. Could've been a nice thing.

Here's the reasoning behind it. I thought a lot about this before I started leaning towards turning the offer down. I needed to know what my responsibilities were, and the contract raised some eyebrows and concerns on a few lines. What was expected of me was simply more than I'm willing to give. From owning me 24/7 (there HAVE no time off, there IS no vacation, you don't GET breaks), limiting my creative options and decisions in the name of the almighty profit, the one-sided nature of the relations of future arrangements... As far as growth is concerned, a lot of it was carrot on a stick. Someone else will take it up, I'm sure.

Now before you go fanatical, there was no scam present. Legally, this is all fair game, and I'm aware of what I read. The question was-- how badly do I want the pros to ignore the cons? Sure it would've been grand. The resources I was opening myself up to were nearly invaluable-- but the cons remained. I'm not going to be in the situation where someone has to yank my shoulder and say "It's in your contract". Put simply, after the clarification, I wasn't devoted 100% to every word in the contract... And you know what happens when you don't agree to terms, don't you?

Business decisions like withholding albums for extra sales... Business models like Pay-to-Play... Living on the road... Egging people on 24/7 with paid incentives... Publicity stunts for extra attention... Things like that clash with me too deeply-- I couldn't dare do these things, and I'm not going to compromise what I want to be for a measure of fame, a sum of money or both. Don't get me wrong, I've never given up something so large in my life, but I wasn't going to ignore what I knew about the terms and pretend it wouldn't affect me later.

This isn't a paradigm shift (do what you flippin' want), but I personally nipped it in the butt. Take up the offer if you manage to get it, but I'd take no deal over a slanted one. I've weighed enough of the pros and cons to know this is not for me, so there's no "looking back" needed.

On the other hand, big fat, heaping pile of SORRY to the people I hyped for this gigantic dud. It's not all bad though. Had that contract were become active, I'd have to stand behind it 100%-- but inside I know I could only stand behind it with about 60% of my heart. In light of these developments, I'm resuming my music schedule, which was 2 original songs every single month. I'm still aiming for the eventual goal-- 3 quality tracks per month as I slowly up the dial on quality control. Good thing I wasn't locked-in yet or I'd have some serious 5-month regrets looming over me. I can definitely add this to the short list of weird situations I've been in, though.

Without all the support I get, this opportunity would've never came up to begin with. Thank you all!

Like a Guillotine (ft. Megurine Luka, Yohioloid) [Adfly] was just released!

It was immensely fun working on this track, and I adored writing the chords. The track lyrics are tense and downhearted, yet the song itself is exciting and incredibly satisfying to hear. The vocalists used were tuned pretty well, according to some objective beta listeners! Honestly, without your feedback, this track would not be what it is, and I thank you for it.

Thanks to the feedback I got, I've been signed by a MAJOR record label! If I'm not mistaken, I'm the first Vocaloid Producer in American History to be signed by that particular Record Label. Watch the announcement video, and watch this thread. Seriously, the Music Section is going to explode.

EDIT: NEVERMIND, deal sucked. But feel free to watch this thread still.

    Enthusiastically, see you next release!
