Click image for Spritesheet. Names: Dar (left) or Lit (right), depending on who's in control. When talking about them in a sentence, the one who's currently in control of the body comes first, ie. Lit and Dar (lit is in control), Dar and Lit (Dar is in control). General Shared info. “Dar and Lit” Two elementally opposite spirits that reside in the same body. Neither of them remember their names or have any memories of who they are, so they are currently working part time while looking for leads. Also both of them try to be funny at times, though they don't always succeed. Info: The body they share is able to match to the gender of whoever is in control. This is because the body is partially made up of the controller's element and isn't completely physical. There is a problem with this though. If the controller is running low on energy and tries to use the energy of their body, they will start becoming physically sick and will begin bleeding internally after a while of continued use. Tools: Basic Katana – A katana that both Dar and Lit are somewhat good at using. Shared Strengths: Both take slightly less damage from physical attacks since their body is partially made of their primary element. Both are also good at cleverly using their secondary element to complement their primary one. Shared Weaknesses: Both of them are vulnerable to their primary element's opposite. Both of them also don't have much of their secondary element, and they can only replenish it and their primary element over time through passive absorption and internal creation. Spoiler: "Dar's" Info “Dar” A male shadow spirit that can make and control some darkness and fire. He's generally a laid back and warm person that's a bit impulsive. His cleverness and deft gunmanship can usually get him out of most situations he ends up in though. Tools: Fake Copy – This transforming scarf that's bound to Dar will become whatever he wants. This is within reason though, as it can't be much larger then the scarf itself and he must have a good idea of how the thing looks and works. The scarf can create temporary copies of itself that have the same properties, but they will disappear after a minute has passed (this is what he uses for his guns ammo). Abilities: Shadow warp – Dar can use the shadows of things he and Lit have touched to teleport either himself or other things. This doesn't use any energy, but he can only have two shadows linked at a time. Focused Shot – By storing some darkness or fire energy at the end of a gun, Dar can fire off an elementally charged shot. Its effects will differ depending on the type of gun used. This obviously uses up some energy, so he can't do this too many times. Skills and Strengths: Though Dar doesn't remember much about who he was, he is highly proficient in using and repairing guns, and will quickly adapt to using new types. He also trusts his gut, so he's rarely surprised and/or tricked by others (taunts still work though). Flaws and Weaknesses: Dar has no skill in hand to hand combat and can't fight all that well without his guns, so he prefers to keep his distance. That said, he also doesn't take fights seriously unless in danger and is easily taunted/baited a few times before wising up to it. Spoiler: "Lit's" Info “Lit” A female light spirit that can make and control some light and water. She's generally a level headed and street smart person that's a bit aloof. Her sharp-witted and anticipative fighting style can usually let her beat any problem she's unable to avoid. Tools: Her Bare Hands – not much to say here. Proper Ulaks – These complement her hand to hand skills pretty well, so she likes using them. The folding blade – let's just be honest here it's just a weapon that I'm likely gonna remake at some point, so it doesn't need fancy info section. Abilities: Light Burst – Lit can turn into a beam of light at will that is capable of bouncing off of reflective surfaces. She can't be hurt when she's a beam of light, but at the same time she has to return to normal in order to attack. This doesn't use any energy and she can use it as many times as she wants, but once dedicated to a direction she can't change it unless she reflects off of something or returns to normal. Light Flow – Lit can take on a much faster form where more of her being is made of light, letting her avoid focused attacks as they pass right through her. In short she can't be shot, stabbed, or cut, but she can be hit, blasted, and whacked. This form does burn through some energy though, so she can't maintain it for too long. Skills and Strengths: Lit is quite skilled in close combat and can adapt to a person's fighting style after a while, meaning she gains more of an advantage the longer a fight goes on. She also keeps a level head no matter the situation, so she's hard to bait or taunt. Flaws and Weaknesses: Lit is unable to shoot or throw anything accurately to save her life, though there are a few rare occasions where she at least hits something. She's also a bit slow to react if she isn't expecting something, so sneak attacks and tricks will work a few times before she starts to counter them. Backstory Spoiler: Full Backstory Dar and Lit woke up one day in the middle of an illegal dumping ground, filled with dead bodies, miscellaneous devices, and weapons. It wasn't long before they realized that they both occupied a gender-shifting body, and that neither of them remembered anything about who they were. After scavenging some tattered rags, a scarf, and some money off some of the bodies, they started wandering from town to town, eventually buying some real clothes along the way. After getting themselves out of a scuffle, they spent the night in an abandoned field on the outskirts of a city. They woke in the morning to the sound of a scuffle, and watched as someone was chased their way. Not understanding or caring about the situation, Lit took control and tackled the thief, giving the other person a chance to catch up and explain what had happened. They shortly introduced themselves as Adi, a store owner that specialized in rarities, relics, and a few weapons. After taking what was stolen from her, she let the thief go, and invited Lit/Dar over for some food and a chat. Since they hadn't eaten in the past few days, they accepted, and followed her back to her house/shop. After chatting for a while, they explained to Adi about their situation, and after a moment she told them that they should try to keep that to themselves from now on. The locals were apparently not fond of weird or strange things and were prone to attacking or isolating anyone associated with such things. She was about to say something else when a remotely controlled robot nearly landed on top of both of them and someone calling themselves Glitch demanded that Adi hand over a relic in her shop. She sighed before curtly telling the operator that she'd rather he run her out of business first. With laughter coming out of the robot, the operator disconnected and a fight ensued that soon pulled Lit/Dar into it. After charging up a light shot, Lit gave control over to Dar so that he could aim it and shoot it off in the second before his darkness powers manifested from him taking control. Landing a critical hit on the robot, they gave Adi enough time by to get behind it and disable its operation servos, rendering it unable to move or attack. A few moments after everything calmed down, a drone detached from the robot, appearing to observe the area until it focused on Dar/Lit. A few seconds later 'Glitch's' voice came out of the drone, oozing with malicious irony as he said he was surprised to see that one of his one of his failed experiments had survived the execution procedures. It turned back to Adi before continuing on, saying that it would be a shame if the nearby town was told that she was friends with one of these mobs, let alone what would happen if he let it slip that she was a shapeshifter herself. There was a pause before Adi calm fully responded that even if he got his hands on it, he would be no closer to his end goal. The drone started heading towards a town after glitch sighed, only to be cut in half by Adi before it could get too far. Turning back to Dar and Lit, she told them that she was thinking of moving shop to the outskirts of a city called maplemation, and then asked them if they would be interested in working for her. After some quick discussion and deliberation in their head, they told her they wouldn't mind the job. Spoiler: Too Long; Didn't Read. (still kinda long) Dar(male) and Lit(female) have no memories of who they were, and their only leads they have are the fact that each of them has opposing powers and that they aren't entirely human, seeing as they are both stuck in the same body, though they are glad it shifts genders depending on who's in control. They awoke within an illegal dumping ground and made their way from town to town with what they were able to scavenge. They eventually Bumped into Adi who after a short talk, advised them to keep the dual soul part a secret. Before she could explain further though, a RC robot landed nearby and started attacking them both after Adi refused to hand over a relic she had to its operator. With a bit of good timing and luck, they were able to disable its main components, which forced the operator, “Glitch” to detach a drone from the thing. He shortly came to recognize Lit and Dar as one of his failed human experiments that had somehow survived the execution procedures he had for the disposing of such things. He then asked Adi one last time to hand over the relic before he told the nearby village about their shape-shifter problem, to which she replied that it wouldn't work like he expected. He sighed and was about to leave when Adi cut the drone in half to delay his message to the village. Adi then told Lit and Dar that she was going to move shop to the edges of a place called maplemation, asking them if they wanted to come with and work for her. After a short bit of deliberation they both agreed to do so, seeing it as a chance to maybe earn some money while looking for info about their past. DEMO(S): Spoiler: Demo(s) Incomplete.
