I made an attempt at spriting pt4 Jotaru from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. How the fuck do you sprite/shade baggy pants.
Lets start with what I like. That hands looks good and fits proportionally. But it doesn't fit Jotaro, he's really muscular but he looks pretty skinny/lanky here. The point missing here is conveying the character with proper shapes to portray attitude and emotions. I also think the shading could be much better if you were a bit more liberal with it. The one belt buckle has more colors than the entire white part of the outfit. You didn't have to stick to 4 shades for the outfit. I think you played it way to safe with the shading. I think if you made his shoulders a bit broader, stance a bit more confident and played with the shading to convey those shaped better it'd really improve the sprite.
I want to add that I feel the lightsource is very close to him in the sense that it's overall very bright as opposed to like more like exaggerated works in like other works like how Paul and you know by extension alot of spriters/artists would just use a solid black to just say "Hey, this is meant to be super far away or really darked out" whereas you kinda played it safe with the colours in the sense that they all follow the same colour, not really overlapping onto other colours in the spectrum -> Yellow -> Orange -> Brown etc. If you wanted to, I feel you could just cut this easily by replacing colours and reshading areas especially the lower - under the knee section, just completely make that a darker shade with lighter highlights for folds - but I feel starting here would be a really good point.
