    Hey everyone!
Been a little while since our last forum update, hasn't it? We're in the process of making some changes around here starting with...the removal of art, comic, and map team. These teams weren't all that active, so we decided it was for the best to just axe them. Animation and sprite team will still be around, so if you ever want to apply for them then give it a go!

Just so you know, the other teams aren't closed for good. If anyone is willing to step up to the plate, don't hesitate to talk about it with me or any of the other staff! We'll happily reopen any of the previously closed teams so long as you're active and you give us a concrete plan for the future of your team. As for what the other teams are up to...

Sorry for the lack of big updates for such a long time. Pretty much all of the team members that can organize big events have been busy with school or work. I’ve been working on getting a second bachelor’s degree and trying to go to a school for animation. Kayas has been working full-time and Karasu has a new job that’s been requiring him to work for long hours and drive around a lot. Neil’s been in community college, trying to get his associate’s degree. Miles is in school and working a job of his own. On top of that, Neil, Miles, Kayas and I have been all working on our own personal projects. Not too long ago, Neil released his personal project that he had been working on for a long time.

If you haven’t seen Iza vs. Dark Horus, check it out. Hopefully that will illustrate the level of quality we’re trying to bring by spending so much time on these projects. Me, Miles and Kayas are still working on our projects but they’re in the final stages and will be released some time soon. Also, regarding the rest of the tutorials, we have the final parts scripted out and all that’s left is to record it. We’ve already done most of the heavy lifting so please have faith that we can deliver the rest.

In short, we’ve all recently become adults and that means we just don’t have as much time as we used to. We’re all trying to find ways to eke out small moments of the day or week to work on our animations and put effort into the community. After we drop these big personal projects, we plan on engaging in more community based events like banners, collaborations and just hanging out in the voice channels more. Not that any of you have been badgering us, but we felt it appropriate to inform you of why things have been slow as of recent. We ask for your patience and understanding going forward so we can continue making maple content and fostering our community. P.S. Rhys says this:

My goals for the sprite team have always been to host more events and collaborations that encourage new spriters and get more involvement with pixel art. It's been some time since I've hosted an event because my focus was on finishing school. When I host events, I always prefer participating alongside everyone else and getting involved instead of just being a host. Now that I have a little more free time, I plan to continue events such as Last Spriters Standing and any future spriting events/collaborations that people would like to see or want to be a part of. I also focused on the forum banners and the background and would like to continue having banners rotated quarterly, if possible. The forum background that was previously in the works was completed, but I was also trying to balance that with school work so I would like to continue improving what was already made for satisfactory results. We also have an announcement from Karasu:

We will be holding applications for new Community Managers! We are looking for an active, social and approachable individual that can keep our community connected and engaged. Despite what is expected from the position, we'd like to hear about your own short term and long term goals. Are you good at holding a conversation? You might fit the role!
Are you active, sociable, and approachable?

What are some ideas for community events?

When you get this role, what do you plan on doing? Short term and long term.

Are you able to manage threads and keep discussion topics going?

Lastly, we reworked the projects section in the Discord to keep things more organized and made the decision to move the showcase section to the Discord as well. The projects thread that you make should follow the template. Please don't just put a Discord invite to a server. Explain the rules and give them some kind of information before they join. Showcase will be for the best of the best and content that represents Maplemation and/or its community of talented individuals, meaning that personal projects and collaborations go here. If you frequently have content posted in showcase, then you'll be given a role that allows you to post your finished animations there. Each of these sections have tags for the sake of filtering. We hope that it'll make browsing through and engaging with these threads much easier for you all!

Absolutely not. As soon as I'm not busy doing anything more important, the pain will resume. Rest assured.
