Thank you all for the banners, they look great! We'll begin the voting today and it'll end in about 5-7 days, by that time we'll have 3 winners. Number 1 Spoiler Number 2 Spoiler Number 3 Spoiler Number 4 Spoiler Number 5 Spoiler
perhaps i'm just a sucker for the warm atmosphere of Number 3 but i'm legitimately surprised it doesn't have more votes. i think it has the most visual charm by far, my compliments to its creator.
Oof, it was a tough choice betwen 1, 3, and 5. Ultimately I voted for 5 and 3 as my secondary vote. Niv has a point, 3 was the only banner with a warm overall tone, which suits the holiday spirit a bit more in a more grounded and real sort of way, I mean who celebrates Chimbus in the middle of scenic nowhere? The more I think about this the more I wish I just voted for 3, darn.
The critic I have is screaming on the inside, so I'll just-- 1. Quite literally a lot to take in, but still breathe taking in how the characters were implemented. Rather then seeming all jumbled with no general idea, there's a lot to grasp from this. It shows pretty well what the community is like. I could say it's a little hard to focus on certain things here, but I can say it's noticeable as to who is there. 2. While a bit less is happening, it has a general sense which characters being used. But it feels... small. Like there isn't enough happening. Christmas is kind of chaotic, but the world we see is closed off in some box instead. maybe if it was panned out more or the scenery was different, there could've been more to explore with more room. 3. I can't tell you how heart warming this one is. I can see a story happening, and the use of the characters involve really mark what Christmas' aesthetic feels like. The use of making some of the characters into toys or ornaments make it really cool and fascinating- actively making them feel alive in their own right. The party in the back and the excitement everyone feels at said party really gets to me. It's cute. I love it. I do wish there were some more charas here and there, tho. 4. I'll say this- looking at it does show that there's a party happening, but it also feels more like a line up then an actual story. Not everyone could've been fit into it, but it still feels cramped, even more so then 2's was. I really think more effort should've been put into making the scenery more christmas-y, but it looks more like a meet and greet after Christmas instead. The only thing changing that- I'd have to say, are the characters wearing santa hats. (Taking that into account it almost sounds better than I put it out as ;w;) 5. Yfw no one wanted to wait for Christmas to happen so they all had a camp night out in the cold like weirdos. It's value I have in it is the story I made up on a limb- it's fitting in a very close friend's kind of vibe where everyone's just happy to be there. Really has a chance of feeling like a banner and not too out of place characters in one area together. I don't really have much else to say on it- but it sure as hell isn't effortless. In the end, I chose 3 and as a secondary, 5. Everyone who participated did well, and I hope for next year to have something similar happen because HOLY SHIT- I wanna be more involved here. TwT
I voted for three, it's the brightest and all the others would clash with the infamous dark theme of the site. I notice it's also the only one who doesn't have people's oc's placed all in a line, their more scattered and although not immediately visible, it's like i'm tempted to look for them...? I voted for Five too, even though at first it's kind of like "We're all on a secret assassination mission, it's cold and snowing we're also in a forest and there is this one campfire we made to discuss the plan on who we finna kill next, and then there's the people on the right and the left." I liked it's dark design but it would of been better if everyone were a tad bigger (closer)
3 and 5 are beautiful. Then again, you're all beautiful. Congrats to the winners, Anonymous, Fource, and Rys, and enjoy the seasonal comfy-ness of your artwork around the forum. Happy Holidays!
