I do it at the same time, but then again, I'm no experienced animator lol. So Drew's advice may be your best bet.

I make sure to have a portion of animation done which only requires one "scene" of camera work to then add the V-Cam movements. So it's like 1/4 animation > 1/4 Vcam, 1/4 animaton > 1/4 vcam and so on...

xD .. I did it as I go along.
