I say go for Adobe Premiere. I think it may be better choice than Sony vegas imo.

For video editing use adobe premiere. Honestly its way better then SV in my opinion.

They're both equally capable.
SV tends to be popular with regard to independent online content, especially MS animations. However, Adobe Premiere is definitely the more industrial standard choice, if you decide to land a job/career in editing.
