Lmao, Hi.
My name is Marvin. I've been into Maple Animations since grade school, Used to watch Sovereign, Osseria, and School of Mages on a regular basis. I tried making Animations back then, sucked at it and gave up, but the ideas of making a "series" stuck with me so i began making films. I started playing around with maple animation again last year, but i still kinda sorta don't get animating and what programs i should be using. In short, i'm here to learn from people that actually understand what they're doing. haha, treat me well plox ;)

Welcome to Maplemation! The series you watched were made through Sony Vegas, a video Editting program. As you can probably guess by looking at the tutorials around here, Adobe Flash and/or Fireworks are the primary programs used for Animating. You should check out Spritefan2's Flash tutorial or Bryant's Gif animating w/ Fireworks for a start of sorts. If you want to be experimental with SV, that's fine too. Tracey n CCShinobi are pretty good people to ask for help with that program since they're online on Discord. Hope you enjoy your stay, and here's hoping to see some of your work!

"B-But..."
Are you Marvin or not?

Welcome to the forums, Marvin! I was kind of in the same boat as you. I used to enjoy watching Maple animations when I was younger, but didn't get into actually animating until last year. In addition to the series like Mapling Times and Maple Kombat, I also really enjoyed Osseria and The Khaini Series~
Like others will probably instruct you to do, the best place to start if you have no experience is to acquire the program you want to work in, then follow several guides:
- If you want to go with what I assume is the most popular choice, Adobe Flash, you should check out spritefan2's tutorials
-Or if you're into animating in Adobe After Effects, DensleMs's tutorials are good guides to check out (and there is also another playlist of After Effects tutorials by @Collin but I can't seem to find, unfortunately)
-Then like Shulkle posted as I was typing this out , there are ways to animate in .gif formats in Adobe Fireworks and there are programs like Sony Vegas that you can animate in as well.
Hope you enjoy learning about sprite animation and pull off directing your own series!
And don't skip out on the tutorials that you can find on the forums!
One last edit: If you're looking for resources, you can check out these websites
-BannedStory (MapleStory-related sprites)
-Spriters Resource (Sounds, sprites, textures, etc. You can find a lot of things here!)
Thanks to Kaneko for creating my profile picture!

Welcome to MapleMation! You should definitely animate with Sony Vegas
Uh, in all seriousness, I guess probably Flash would be your best bet. But any of these programs is going to be expensive qq, so really weigh your options before you pick one. As Aran said, if you pick Flash, there's tons of people to help you, and he provided some people that'll help with AE if you pick that, too.
On the off chance that you do decide to use Sony Vegas, please don't ever hesitate to ask me anything about it! :D
Goddamn, the more words in your introduction, the more replies you get. Crazy. Wow.
