Long time, no see Maplemation (again ;x)
My interests in animating usually flicks on and off like a light switch, however, I think that is primarily caused by the amount of time it takes to--not only animate--but to customize, rig, convert, and rename multiple files.
One issue that I had with Adobe Flash Professional was its inconsistency with importing files into the library. I was never sure as to why importing a PNG file to the library would unpredictably alternate between:
1.) creating a bitmap and a symbol with the file name
2.) creating a bitmap and a symbol without the file name (i.e. "Symbol 1")
3.) creating solely a bitmap.
- The first two scenarios would occur with Adobe Flash CS3, while the third scenario occurs with Adobe Flash CS6.
- The first scenario is the best since you don't need to convert every bitmap to a symbol/movie clip and rename the symbols/movie clips to its respective PNG file name.
I don't know if it's some apps that I download on my computer (PC games), but Adobe Flash CS3 picks and chooses when the symbol will be named after its predecessor or as a number.
This may not seem like a big issue at first, but if a person were to import +100 PNG files (exploded items, different characters) to the library and experienced scenarios 2 or 3, then they would have to spend maybe an hour or more converting and renaming every file which could've been on animating.
Over the years, I can never seem to find a solution to this on the Adobe Forums or the Google search engine.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do you just accept it? :O
