Need Tips for Custom sprites.

Hello everyone, im new to this whole custom sprites thing and i keep running into a problem of not knowing how to replicate the baggy trousers that my character wears on a custom template any tips?. I just cant quite understand where im supposed to put the outlines for the trousers. Also it probably wasnt a good idea for me to choose such a difficult outfit but hey, i will get better!

Well, something I like to do is try grabbing a piece of your regular sprite, or more specifically, your pants, and try to find whichever leg looks the most like to the custom template given. Of course, you'll have to clean up the edges here and there after trying to slap on your pants into another leg, as it probably isn't 1 to 1. Hope this helps.
