Abandoned by his parents as a baby, he was raised (poorly) by his drunk uncle in a small town called Redbelly. He was a very bratty, whiny and selfish kid, and never got along with anyone at school. He was fascinated by dictators in history such as Cyrus, Alexander, Julius Caesar and Hitler and thrived to be like them, but better and more successful. He secretly trained himself with a kitchen knife in the art of swordplay

When he was 16 he grabbed a few other school outcasts and created an army. They stole some swords from Redbelly's local militia and Daku used his to murder his uncle. The police force and militia tried to stop the rogue teenagers but most members got killed trying and the others had to retreat.

Daku's teenage army ended up ravaging the entire town and turning it into their base of operations. However, Daku was not satisfied. He wanted the world in the palm of his hand. He and his newfound friends decided to go off to ravage take over other towns around the world. One of the original members stayed behind to be the new leader of Redbelly while the others went out raving cities and recruiting members for Daku's army.

Over time, Daku's army grew to hundreds of followers helping him on his crusade for world domination. He was conquering cities left and right and became the most powerful dictator and warlord in history. His evildoing has been associated with many Maple characters' history. Did your Maple character have killed family members or a destroyed homeland? That may have been Daku's doing.

When he was 32, he sought out the legendary magical sword Acid. He found it buried in a hidden cave somewhere in the Artistic Mountains. However, he was followed by a young woman named Hikari, who was just announced the queen of the nearby city, Artistica. Hikari fought Daku in order to stop him from taking Acid and using it for evil, but she was unsuccessful. After beating her in combat, Daku raped Hikari and took her and Acid as his own.

However, unbeknownst to him, that raping led to the creation of his son, Craig. He had sworn not to have any kids in fear of them overthrowing him in the future. Hikari was able to escape Daku's army and return back to Artistica while still pregnant. He never found out about Craig until 18 years later, and when he did he got really angry. So angry that he marched his army into Artistica in an attempt to kill Craig and destroyed everything there, even killing Hikari in cold blood. However, Craig was able to escape with his mother's sword, so Daku's mission was unsuccessful.

Fearing for his demise, he sent a scout of his to find Craig's whereabouts as he continued conquering cities. So far, that scout has not found Craig...yet.

Daku is ruthless, cunning, barbaric, despicable, and completely unlikable. He has no sympathy for anyone but himself and will do anything to get his way. He's everything you expect out of an evil warlord.

Acid is a sword made of the rare metal Auranium buried in a stone hidden deep in a cave in the Artistic Mountains until Daku pulled it out. It's a lot like Craig's sword Aquarius (also made out of Auranium), but more evil, more powerful, and with dark magic powers instead of water powers.

Hikari was born into royalty as the daughter and only child of Hiro and Ai Sato, the King and Queen of Aritistica. She had a relatively relaxing, enjoyable life, learning both how to act like a lady from her mother and how to fight from her father. She was good in school, made a lot of friends, and was a lot more active and free than your typical fantasy princess. On top of that, the city she lived in was at peace. However, she kept hearing in the news about an evil warlord named Daku taking over cities around the world, and had a secret fear of him coming to Artistica.

After graduating from college, however, she received news that both of her parents had fallen ill. She did her best to take care of them, but they ultimately perished from their disease. Thus, at only 22 years old, she was named queen of Artistica.

A few weeks afterwords, she was taking a stroll in the nearby Artistic Mountains when she came across a strange red-haired man dressed in mostly black. She followed his deep into a cave and realized that the man was in fact Daku, the warlord she feared would come to Artistica to take it over, and he was after the magical sword Acid. Hikari knew she could not allow him to take Acid or take over Artistica, so she challenged him to a swordfight. Despite her valiant efforts, she could not hold up against the might of Daku and thus was kidnapped and raped by him as he took Acid as his new weapon.

As a result of being raped, Hikari became pregnant with a baby who would become Craig. Fearing Daku would kill her if he found out and not wanting her homeland to be without a ruler, she ran away from the fort in which Daku and his army resided and returned to Artistica.

Back in her homeland, she resumed her role as queen, as well as began her role as a single mother. She raised Craig well and taught him all she knew, except how to fight. Even though Craig wanted to learn how to fight to be a hero, and most of her colleagues argued it would be beneficial to teach Craig swordplay so he could defend Artistica when she couldn't, she still wouldn't train him. She feared that if he learned how to fight, he would become like his violent father. The most important lesson she taught him how to be kind to others, and to try to protect people no matter what cost (nonviolently, of course).

On Craig's 18th birthday, disaster struck Artistica. Daku and his army came raging back to find and kill Craig. Hikari, fearing for her son, immediately summoned the army of Artisitca and led them into battle against Daku. However, they were severely outmatched, and Daku's army managed to destroy Artistica and everyone in it, except (ironically) Craig.

Hikari's final stand was face to face with Daku while trying to protect Craig. Craig wanted to help his mother, but he did not know how to fight, so all he could do was hide under his bed and watch, helpless and useless. Hikari did her best to hold off Daku, but in the end, he stabbed her right in the chest. He then went off to check for Craig in other places, not realizing he was under his bed the whole time.

In her dying breaths, in her son's arms, she told him how proud of him she was of the man he had become and that she was a fool to never allow him to fight. She told him to take her sword Aquarius and teach himself how to fight so he could defeat his father. Her last words to him were, "Now go on, my brave knight."

While Daku is the most unlikable human being in the world, Hikari is the exact opposite. She's sweet, honest, kind, honorable, and always there to protect her people on a moment's notice. She dressed fancy, but was never afraid to get her clothes dirty if the time was right. She was a great daughter to her parents and an even better mother to Craig. She was a prominent female figure in Craig's life (but certainly not the last one).
