Ruby is a nosey, old, fun loving lady. In her old age, she decided she wanted to pursuit a life lived to the fullest, exploring the world and getting into all sorts of shenanigans. With this goal in mind, she began to practice the art of conjuration, producing objects and creatures out of thin air, and even the ability to transport herself and others through teleportation. However, her mastery over this magic is only subpar. A curious woman, she often pushes things too far and to the point of… “interesting” results. Creatures that don’t follow her instructions and actively try to kill her and anything in sight, planar scars that rip the fabric of reality between worlds, and many, many teleportation mishaps.
Abilities
Ruby isn’t much of a fighter, instead often being more of a pacifist and trying to become friends with the enemy despite their moral leanings. That said, she will lie and cheat as much as she can to get out of any situation, and will often use her “kind old lady” status as an excuse and distraction. If Ruby can find an easier, simpler way around a fight or obstacle, she will take it.
Minor Conjuration
Ruby at will can conjure forth a simple magical facsimile of a small object, such as a chair, clothes, or her favorite, a gun (aka her “metal wand”). Though magical creations, these objects can be destroyed easily, and do not last for a long time. If she tries to conjure another item, the previous will disappear.
Benign Transposition
In a shower of magical mist, Ruby can teleport herself a short distance. While doing so, she can also swap places with another being, if they are willing. Ruby can attempt to go further, but the further she attempts to go, the more off target she’s likely to be, similar to hitting a golf ball.
Summon Creature
Finally, Ruby is able to conjure a creature to her side. The more familiar she is with them, the easier it is for her to do, especially if she has a signed magical contract with them. Though, these creatures don’t necessarily act as Ruby demands; the stronger the creature, the more unpredictable and wily it can be; though, Ruby may sometimes use this to her advantage, like deploying a blood thirsty demon into the middle of battle while she tries to run away.
Items
- “Metal wand” - Ruby’s gun, which she uses to fight. While her aim is horrible, she insists it’s the most “OP” weapon of the modern era. If only she could have Super Saiyan powers like al the kids seem to have these days.
- Staff - Ruby often uses a arcane wooden staff to help focus her magic. Though she doesn’t need it, it helps amplify some of her powers. And according to her, all the coolest wizards use them.
- Glasses - Ruby can always be found wearing her signature cat-eyed Ruby Red Glasses™. Helps her see, while also staying hip and fashionable.
Flaws
- Ruby can often be nosey and curious to a flaw, getting herself into dangerous situations and signing of for “collabs” that she’s probably not qualified for, but mostly because they sound fun and she doesn’t wanna miss out. It doesn’t help that so far in her adventuring life she has mostly gotten out of every situation, which makes her believe the next will be no different.
- Though her magic can be impressive, she’s far from mastering it due to her wanting to skip to the “cool shit”.
- Ruby can be friendly to a fault, especially when it comes to people or things she finds interesting, making her alliances a little unpredictable. In the heat of battle, she may try to resolve conflicts through alternative methods, even if they have low chance of succeeding.
- As kind as she can be, Ruby’s selfishness can often get the best of her, prioritizing her own goals, motives, and safety over others.
- Being a smaller, older lady, and wearing nothing to protect her, Ruby is much more fragile. Fun fact: the legs on all her sprites are edited to be a couple pixels shorter than normal.
