Aww, it's so cute! x3 I think the overall colours and shading on the arms look pretty alright (I'm no expert tho x'D), but I think the shading on the face could have a little more detail, like maybe lip/nose shading and maybe some cheek blush. I found this shading guide: Spoiler And I get the hair is covering, like, 35% of his face, but it looks like one of those anime menacing effects xD: Spoiler tldr; I think it just needs a little more detail, but it looks great so far! :DD Show the final product when you are done ^-^ And happy belated birthday to him~!
