My Notes: Thanks to hyper for accepting this MBR. I made this in about a day and it was pretty damn fun. If you're wondering why I'm using Alicia in this animation, she's the only female whose sprites I have and errrrr maplesim is down so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

His Notes: Well the time is now to show what i’m capable of (but thanks to windows 10 i guess we will have to wait some other time) This is my first MBR and it definitely taught me a lot in terms of time management. I had so many ambitious ideas yet could only manage to create so little. ¼ of its due to some technical difficulties but the other ¾ was due experimentation and rough ideas that never got to see the light of day. In the end I hope you enjoyed this animation.

MANIAC: Looked great during the production, and looked great in the end. I guess the only thing is, during the last part, it doesn't look like he's falling, since the background is stationary. Otherwise, nice job, man.

Maniac -- Very entertaining to watch, felt like an actual anime scene ^o^ Also really liked the rigs/different perspectives/angles of the poses, pretty effects like the shiny/green veins on his arm, and how you animated the build up until the punch smash! (Also the legs at the end LOL AM I MISSING SOMETHING? oAo ;; )
Hyper -- I actually really liked the (as Droo describes it) the 1970's-eqsue aesthetic! Takes me back to old-fashioned anime style when I watched YuGiOh 'Season 0' and YYH. xD It's a shame you couldn't finish, but this is your first one, right? Here's to hoping your future ones are finished!

Although you were referencing an actual anime scene, I really appreciate your eye for camera work and dynamic visual aesthetics, Maniac (if you've been around long enough, you'll hear me talk about cinematography in Maple animations a lot because I'm a film major nerd lol). The production value in your editing and shot choice was fantastic, and most of the POVs and visual effects worked really well! Some of the custom poses/rigging came off a little odd and misplaced (like the left arm at 1:20 connected to his face LOL) but nevertheless I REALLY admire the ambition and effort. Nicely done :)

As for Hyper, I agree with Tracey. The late 70s/80s look might have been the most interesting stylistic choice I've seen in any Maple animation. Very nostalgically impressive. Just uh...make sure you polish your raw animation a bit. You shouldn't leave stuff like this in a final cut lol.

They say in movies, the eyes are the most important part of character visual expression. Couldn't be more true here, as I legit struggled in understanding how these characters were reacting to each other (before watching the reference that is). As for other movements and stylistic choices...


...I GUESS this works in terms of accuracy, but it is rather strange to look at in Maple context LOL

Overall, there were some questionable moments, but you guys tried a lot of different things that sparked eye-opening creativity. Stick around long enough, and I think it would be very exciting to see how your animating styles gradually unfold.

This is one of the best matches in a while, imo. Nice work guys, keep at it~

I have to go with Maniac

i like both animations but

maniacs animation seems like he put more effort into the animation
also his animation went perfectly with the anime he referred

vs Hyper who made a decent animation but seemed rushed
and just had a nice tv like filter to it but seemed like a incomplete animation
also i couldn't tell which part of the sonic fight was referred with your animation

either way great work to the both of you but im going with maniac
